MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIESOrganizational Professional MemberIncludes two individual memberships at the organizational level for full-time employees with risk management responsibilities exclusively for one organization. Memberships belongs to the organization, not the individuals. Additional professionals may be added to your organizational membership only when you initially join, or during your renewal period. At all other times, professionals may join under the Individual Professional membership category. Individual Professional MemberYou must be a full-time professional with risk management responsibilities exclusively for one organization. Professional and Young Professional (under age 26) memberships available. Associate MemberIf you are employed by a company/organization that provides products or services to those in the risk management profession (e.g., broker, underwriter, consultant, attorney, accountant, actuary, or outsourced risk manager), you are eligible for Associate Membership. Associates have all the privileges of membership but may not serve as voting members of boards or committees. The membership belongs to you, not to your company/employer. LOCAL Associate Chapter MemberThis level is available to NON-RISK MANAGERS who wish to participate as a chapter member only. There are no national society benefits at this level, as membership in RIMS national is not included. OTHER TYPES OF MEMBERSHIPS:Rising Risk Professional (30 years of age or younger)Would otherwise qualify as an Individual Professional Member (same definition). The membership fee is $149.00. Rising Risk Associate (30 years of age or younger)Would otherwise qualify as an Associate member (same definition). The membership fee is $149.00. Retired MemberYou must be fully retired from the risk management profession and were a Professional or Associate Member of RIMS immediately prior to your full retirement. The membership fee is $125.00. Educational MemberAvailable to a full-time professor or dean in a program providing risk management, insurance or business education. A current curriculum vitae is required in order to qualify for educational membership. The membership fee is $125.00. Student MemberYou must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student working toward a degree in risk management, insurance or business. The student membership year is October 1 through September 30, however you can join anytime within this cycle. A copy of your current unofficial transcript is required to qualify for new or renewal student membership. There is no cost associated with this membership. Transitional MemberAvailable to a Professional or Associate member upon their separation from their current place of employment. Transitional membership is renewable once, or a maximum of 2 years from the date of separation. Membership terminates upon acceptance of employment. There is no cost associated with this membership.
